Biography
Originating from Cyprus, Frozen Winds began in late 2007 as a 5-piece entity. After releasing their first demo ‘Luciferian Calls’ in 2009 and their EP ‘Prophets with Distorted Faces’ in 2011, Frozen Winds marked their return to the stage with their debut full-length album ‘Necromantic Arts’ in 2018, released by Deathhammer Records, combining a Black Metal formula with Ritual ambience, crushing riffs, hell-pounding drums and vocals of ecstatic frenzy, invoking the Occult Arts into existence.
Conceptually and philosophically, Frozen Winds revolve around Occultism, Mysticism and Left Hand Path thematology, praising and honouring the obscure ancient traditions that have been long forgotten and neglected.
Frozen Winds became prominent in Cyprus for their deeply psychodramatic Rituals that take place for the duration of their shows. These performances involve practitioners and specifically designed rituals, prompts and dimly burning altars. Frozen Winds have previously played shows supporting names such as Rotting Christ, Kawir, Septic Flesh and The Dead Creed.
Now re-established as a four-piece based in Limassol and Utrecht, Frozen Winds return rewoken with the release of their 2nd full-length album entitled ‘Keys to Eschaton’. Even though Frozen Winds still hold a strong foundation on the traditional Black Metal formula, they move towards a more unconventional sound that births a sinister yet aetheric and melodic approach on the Avant- Garde spectrum.
ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM:
The new album was mastered by Simon Jameson, from Black Art Studio, who has worked with Schammasch on ‘The Maldoror Chants: Hermaphrodite’ and recorded, mixed and produced at Syren Blast Studios, by Louis Simon Syrimis. It is comprised of 7 long tracks, including a ritualistic ambient song.
Even though Frozen Winds still hold a strong foundation on the traditional Black Metal formula, they move towards a more unconventional sound that births a sinister yet aetheric and melodic approach on the Avant- Garde spectrum. The new addition of female soprano vocals with Greek and Oriental/Middle-Eastern elements alongside the inclusion of the prominence of the female scream is what distinguishes their new sound. Throughout the release, deeply personal and esoteric lyricism directly influenced by Occult research and spiritual cognizance are expressed, and accompany the newfound manic-sounding, ritual-breathing soundscape.

REVIEWS
''This not any kind of raw or lo-fi black metal, but also not depressive or post stuff. Instead, you are getting wonderful melodies, embedded in a very traditional basis, akin to the classic stuff of the second wave. “Necromantic Arts” is a real gem and fans of the genre need to give it a listen.'' - Edmund Sackbauer on Encyclopedia Metallum: Metal Archives Website
‘Their extreme and occult motif is perfectly achieved in all the tracks of Frozen Winds' debut. It's nice that a band from our neighbouring Cyprus, releases something that revives the past, but doesn't copy it’. With a score of 8.5/10
- John Hartzaniotis on Metal View
‘The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Mysticism, Spirituality and Left Hand Path themes. In my opinion Frozen Winds are a very great sounding Occult Black Metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album’. With a score of 8.5/10

‘Necromantic Arts is an atmospheric album par excellence, to some it may seem darker than usual, but the feeling it gives does not let you rest until the end’
